With a passion for motivating employees, Katherine Wilburn has helped a number of Gagen MacDonald clients by creating actionable plans that engage employees in delivering on the business strategy. Taking an employee-centric approach to her communications, she has applied her expertise during culture change efforts, system upgrades and performance turnarounds.

Most recently, Katherine worked with Edison International to bring its vision and values to life in meaningful ways for employees. She led the 2011 Chairman’s Award—a values education and recognition program that celebrates employees who achieve results while modeling the company’s desired behaviors. She also supported the corporate headquarters move for Dean Foods and a Chicago-based hedge fund bringing her keen interest in social media as the company revamped its intranet. United Airlines, Northwestern Mutual and Owens-Illinois are clients she has supported as well.

Katherine’s passion outside of work is pushing her physical limits and setting goals to achieve. “Whether I’m competing in a triathlon, running the stairs at the John Hancock building or racing in an open water swim competition, I love challenging myself to do things I haven’t done before.” She brings that same focus to solving corporate challenges—and reminds teams to celebrate victory. Katherine joined Gagen MacDonald in 2008 and holds an M.S. in public relations from Boston University and a B.A. in English and modern history from Wheaton College, MA.

“A ship in harbor is safe – but that’s not what ships are built for.” – John Shedd
