PRWeek has announced their shortlist for the PRWeek 2017 Awards, naming Astellas Pharma US, Inc., a finalist in the Best in Internal Communications category for their work on the “Journey to One Astellas Culture Initiative”. This award recognizes the best corporate, agency, nonprofit, and education teams in the United States as well as their work during the previous year.
The U.S. affiliate of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma, Inc., and headquarters of the Americas region, Astellas US initiated the campaign to communicate its compelling, universal corporate culture to approximately 3,000 employees across the U.S., Canada, and Brazil. Using emotionally rich stories and experiential communication techniques Gagen supported Astellas US in accelerating the evolution of Astellas culture and celebrating it.
The campaign has proven successful even in its earliest stages. Following an Astellas Americas town hall held in August 2016, 79 percent of survey respondents indicated they now have a clear understanding of the company’s commitment to Patient Focus. In the same survey, 77 percent of respondents indicated they agreed or completely agreed with the company’s commitment to advancing the One Astellas approach. More than 1,000 employees posted their personal pledges on the Culture Commitment Wall, a key campaign component that traveled throughout the Americas offices. Finally, Astellas global colleagues have expressed interest in replicating the culture campaign in their respective regions (e.g. Asia-Pacific, EU, EMEA) with two regions currently customizing imagery to feature regional employees and patients.
Winners of the PRWeek Awards are chosen by a panel of judges including senior PR professionals from agency, corporate, nonprofit, and government teams, as well as PR education professionals. Award winners and the Best Agency of the year will be chosen by judges and PRWeek’s editor-in-chief and will be announced at the PRWeek Awards ceremony on March 16, 2017.
