Equipping high-potential leaders to drive change

Cisco: Equipping high-potential leaders to drive change

Challenge:

Cisco’s global finance function was undergoing a transformation and identified a need to better equip their high-potential leaders to become change agents.

Actions:

  • Gagen MacDonald developed a global leadership development program which featured:
    • Small cohorts of eight to 15 people who met every two to three months via live video (telepresence and WebEx) for an experiential training session that included topics such as:
      • Leader as facilitator/coach.
      • Courageous change leadership.
      • Coaching and feedback.
    • Participants who were highly engaged in dialogue throughout the session.
  • Experiential training encouraged collaboration, reflection and co-learning, and was brought to life through the use of video and live “face-to-face” discussion.

Results:

  • Cisco finance leadership received valuable feedback that has informed key next steps for efficiency initiatives.
  • Participants formed lasting co-mentoring relationships that are supporting ownership of the leadership behaviors
  • All who participated in the annual leadership assessment survey observed improvements in key focus areas.
