With more than 19 years of human resource, recruitment and diversity & inclusion experience, Alberta is known for building strong cultures and developing human resources best practices.

At Gagen MacDonald she is Director of People and leads people culture, talent strategy, engagement and human resource innovation. Her specific areas of interest are cultural change, strategic planning, total rewards and organizational effectiveness.

Prior to joining Gagen MacDonald, Alberta lead human resources and diversity and inclusion at national and global membership associations and a national professional services firm. In these roles, she oversaw human resources teams and successfully provided education and professional development, created employee resources groups, led leadership development programming and diversity recruitment. In addition, she spent two years as a consultant for a boutique firm focusing on the managing, attracting, retaining and engaging talent to drive organizational change.

Alberta began her career with the City of Chicago, where she served in various leadership roles centered around human resources, performance management, diversity & inclusion and strategic partnerships. As an influencer in best practices, she served on the leadership team and was one of the authors of the City’s first Maternity Leave Policy. She has been recognized for her dedication to human resources and diversity by Latino Leaders Magazine (2015) and Diversity MBA Magazine, Top 100 under 50 Diverse Leaders (2014).

Alberta currently serves on the Illinois State Council for the Society for Human Resources Management (IL SHRM) and as Diversity Council Member for United Way Metro Chicago. As an active participant in the human resources and diversity, equity, & inclusion community, she is a member of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Chicago SHRM

Alberta holds a B.A. in Sociology from University of Illinois at Chicago, an M.P.A. in Public Administration/Social Entrepreneurship from Illinois Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. in Management from Roosevelt University.
