Barbara Govednik’s 25+ year career has focused on creating effective communications and effective communicators.
As a communication consultant, writer and editor, she helps corporate executives talk with their employees during times of change, helps workers at every level understand and embody the business strategy, partners with HR executives and promotes consistent, effective communication in all its varied forms. She has worked in the C-Suite, on the manufacturing floor and everywhere in between.
Barbara has helped manage the messaging around numerous strategic HR transformation efforts, served as the overall communication lead to the division CEO of a global pharmaceutical company, and developed and delivered communications plans for a variety of HR programs.
She is a fast and effective writer, a focused and encouraging editor and a creative and strategic thinker. After earning her degree in journalism from Bradley University, she began her communications career writing and managing communication programs for an association and several small businesses.
For the computer networking company U.S. Robotics/3Com, Barbara was part of a team that launched the company’s first formal internal communication program and was a lead communicator during the enormous merger of U.S. Robotics and 3Com. For insurance giant CNA, she helped update and modernize company communication vehicles. At e-commerce consulting firm Lante, she led internal communication efforts as the company grew rapidly, had its IPO and battled through the dot com bust.
An avid traveler, she has visited nearly 30 countries in the last 22 years, always eager to learn what it means to be clear and be heard in a variety of cultures.
