Johanna brings more than a decade of experience helping some of the world’s largest and most valuable brands build their reputation and deliver results. With a blended skillset across corporate communication, brand PR and journalism, Johanna applies her breadth and depth of expertise to shape holistic strategies that truly work with internal and external stakeholders. She has led numerous global campaigns with internal, media, digital, social and community outreach components, and is in her element leading high stakes, high visibility engagements.

At Gagen MacDonald, Johanna guides clients through a broad range of challenges, including finance and M&A communications, crisis strategy, employee communications and engagement, strategic message development, and more. Most recently, she has helped steward a financially revered Fortune 500 company through the retirement of its long-time CFO and ushering in of a new era. Along with the announcement, onboarding and positioning of the new leader, she has designed function-wide change communications to build a global Finance organization prepared for the future.

Johanna has also led the repositioning of one of the largest global pharmaceutical businesses, changing how the company tells its story with internal and external stakeholders.

Prior to Gagen MacDonald, Johanna provided strategic communications counsel to the executive leadership team and other internal stakeholder groups at WellCare Health Plans. She helped the company amplify its story around its commitments to compliance, quality and service by launching the company’s first Twitter handle and corporate blog, and growing its presence across social and owned media platforms. Johanna also commissioned a group of employee ambassadors to share the company’s mission and vision with others across social media.

At The Coca-Cola Company, Johanna led communications for the Chief Science and Health Officer, establishing and cultivating the executive’s internal and external profile. She was also a critical player in key company announcements and priorities, facilitating the creation and execution of global PR strategies for product launches, advancing the company’s sustainability agenda and more. Johanna also drove PR and marketing campaigns for Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Known for her attention to detail, stakeholder-centric approach and grace under pressure, Johanna quickly becomes an invaluable partner and counselor to her clients.

Johanna received her Master of Arts in Communication Management from University of Southern California and her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Boston University.
