Liana brings to Gagen MacDonald more than a decade of experience managing websites, building out organizations’ digital identities, and telling stories of complicated work in innovative, resonant, and human-centered ways. Originally a social media specialist, her career has included work in both the financial and nonprofit sectors. She is propelled by a love of storytelling, a deep interest in—and comfort with—digital tools, and a constant desire to venture beyond her comfort zone.
As senior manager, marketing communications at Gagen MacDonald, Liana leads the firm’s strategic marketing and communication go-to-market strategy, building and executing against digital, social media, content marketing, and event strategies to bring the Gagen MacDonald brand to life and support all external communications and corporate marketing initiatives.
Prior to joining Gagen MacDonald, Liana was the digital marketing manager for LEAP Innovations, a Chicago-based education nonprofit. At LEAP, she led the creation of digital content, from strategic planning to production, all while the organization transitioned from a startup to a national nonprofit. She managed and redesigned the organization’s website, developed its social media channels, and drove the creation of a multitude of internal systems and processes built to make team members as efficient, in-sync, and empowered as possible.
She began her career at Million Dollar Round Table, a global, membership-based financial association, where she developed, implemented and maintained comprehensive social and digital media strategies to align with the organization’s overall brand and content strategy, helping to grow the brand on a domestic and global level.
Liana earned a Master of Arts in Multicultural and Organizational Communication from DePaul University, where she was a member of the Communications Honor Society of the National Communications Association. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in News/Internet Journalism, (with a minor in English) from Drake University.
