Susan joined Gagen MacDonald in 2016 as HR Business Partner to continue building a people strategy and enhance the employee experience.
Susan specializes in creating systems and bringing structure to help companies attract and hire the right people, motivate them, develop them and retain them. Drawing upon her diverse background in HR, Operations and Organizational Development, Susan creates enhancements and efficiencies while designing environments in which people can flourish.
Prior to joining Gagen MacDonald, Susan held an HR consulting role with an IT consulting firm. Her primary client was Guggenheim Partners, a global financial services firm. She also served as HR consultant for non-profit, manufacturing, and life insurance firms. In her consulting work, she created programs and processes to improve HR’s effectiveness, from recruiting and hiring, to performance and talent, employee development and training, and succession planning.
Susan also has played roles in creating and advising on employee and member communications. In her consulting work, she supported change and business initiatives by creating and delivering communications and training. In her board role for the Chicago chapter of SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management), she oversees communication and marketing strategies to drive programs and member engagement.
Susan is active in community organizations, including Chicago Scholars, Career Transitions Center of Chicago, Taproot Foundation, and Chicago SHRM. Susan has her B.A. from Northern Illinois University in Psychology. Additionally, she holds her Professional Human Resource Certification (PHR), HR Management Certificate, and Development Certificate as well as being an SHRM Certified Professional.
