Susan complements the Building Capabilities team with 25 years of corporate business experience. She is an expert in leadership development, organizational effectiveness and employee engagement, and has reserved a special focus in her work for serving the leadership of middle-market companies.
Prior to joining Gagen MacDonald, Susan held several positions at Andersen Consulting. Early in her career she supported the firm’s creation of a management development curriculum. She also conducted over 500 hours of interpersonal skills training primarily in Asia, Europe and Africa and helped launch the organization’s new Change Management practice. During the next few years, Susan led project teams in designing and implementing communication, training and process improvement programs for Fortune 100 companies throughout the country.
During her last five years with the firm, she took on a global leadership role where she worked with the firm’s offices in Europe and Asia Pacific to develop human resource policies and programs to support global consistency. During this time she led the design and development of the firm’s first software-based global performance management system and its first global cultural alignment study.
Susan began her management career at Michigan State University as associate director of admissions overseeing the operational aspects of the admissions function for the 40,000-student organization. While in that role she earned a Masters in Communication and a Master of Business Administration, completing her doctoral work in Organizational Behavior.
She is a Board-certified executive coach, an Energy Leadership master practitioner, and is SPHR certified by the Society for Human Resource Management. Susan serves on the Advisory Board of Cygany, Inc., the Development Board for the Alzheimer’s Association, PAWS Chicago, and the Anti-Cruelty Society. She has also served on the Board of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
