Karen is a senior change management and culture consultant with a background in human resources. She is responsible for providing advice related to business transformation, M&A, operations, talent and other strategic change initiatives. Prior to joining Gagen MacDonald, Karen was a senior member of Mercer’s change management business and the global M&A culture practice lead.

With more than 20 years of experience across industries, Karen’s consulting expertise includes providing strategic guidance – from business and cultural alignment, key stakeholder engagement, and decision making to communications, administration and governance – on the various organizational, operational and human capital components required to achieve business outcomes.

Karen’s recent business transformation work includes leading change management efforts related to client’s change in strategic direction and restructuring to ensure engagement of key stakeholders at all levels within the organization, working with a franchised organization on addressing challenges in shifting strategic direction, and facilitating leadership alignment and strategic planning sessions.

Examples of Karen’s culture change work include partnering with a multi-branded organization to align on an organization-wide culture framework, supporting a client’s ‘mindset shift’ as they transformed the organization to work differently and more efficiently, and helping a client understand the gaps in the existing culture and the one needed to move from B2B to B2C.

Some of Karen’s recent M&A support includes conducting a culture assessment and creating a change management plan for a reverse integration of a large technology services provider to support a new growth platform, creating a global communication strategy for a spin-off and subsequent acquisition to enable timely employment transitions and integration decisions for the workforce.

Karen’s human resource change experience includes designing a change and communication plan to support a major workforce transition (talent recruitment, assessment, and selection) and developing change management strategies and roadmaps for the design and implementation of a new career framework. The career framework changes included job leveling, title development, salary structuring, and compensation administration for various clients.
