The Holmes Report has recognized DuPont with a 2018 North America SABRE Award in the Chemicals and Industrials Industry Sector for its campaign “Countdown to Day One: Creating DowDuPont.”

Following DuPont’s announcement to merge with The Dow Chemical Company and subsequently divide into three independent companies, DuPont partnered with Gagen MacDonald and Think Marketing to develop a comprehensive employee and leader communications engagement plan that enabled the business to deliver significantly improved results, minimize business disruption, and build employee and leader confidence in the future. DuPont achieved this through developing a consistent employee narrative, creating a continuous feedback loop, rebuilding its internal communications infrastructure for employees and leaders, and implementing a robust measurement, analytics, and reporting discipline.

Being the largest industrial merger in history, the impact of 20+ months of uncertainty on leaders and employees could have been catastrophic to talent retention and business performance. Ongoing measurement tools and surveys revealed that by the close of the transaction the team not only met but exceeded its targets. Globally, employee/leader understanding of and confidence in the change journey increased 11 percent and 16 percent, respectively, while already-high belief in executive leadership transparency grew an additional 4 percent. Concurrently, the use of clear messaging, strategic channels, and robust measurement helped deliver record performance and attrition below historical norms.

The SABRE Awards recognize superior achievement in branding, reputation, and engagement. This year, around 300 campaigns were selected as finalists from more than 2,000 entries. Winners were chosen by a jury panel of distinguished industry leaders from such organizations as Johnson & Johnson, Target, and American Greetings. The SABRE winners were announced at the awards ceremony on May 1, 2018 in New York City.
