Tom Joy

Director

For nearly fifteen years, Tom has joined forces with business leaders to advance trust, community, engagement and adoption. With a passion for employee experience, Tom brings deep expertise in workforce listening, internal communications, change management, program design, facilitation and organizational effectiveness. Tom has worked across industries and borders, with experience both in-house and as a trusted client advisor.

Before joining Gagen MacDonald, Tom served as a vice president in Edelman's Workplace Advisory practice where he supported Fortune 500 organizations in realizing sizable transformation efforts. Working in-house, Tom led employee engagement for two global health NGOs, where he honed his expertise in employee voice, HR communications, rewards & recognition, belonging, culture and learning. Tom began his career as an HR generalist in the hospitality industry.

Tom holds a B.A. in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication from the University of Central Florida and has received professional training in both human-centered design and employee development. Tom has been a Prosci certified change management practitioner since 2022 and is based in Washington, D.C.
